Some Blurry Action Shots

I think they're blurry because of our lightening fast speed on the court. The camera can't keep up. Maybe they'll invent a camera soon that can catch us in a freeze frame.

Video Clips

Here are a couple video clips, thanks to Coach Amber and her assistant, Chester (which is my vote for the name of their unborn kid). We hope to add some more later.

League Rules and Notes

League Rules & Notes:

• Play times for all leagues is between 6 and 10 pm, except for the Sunday league which is between 1 and 5 pm.
• Teams may have as many subs as they want, as long as they don't play on another team in the same division in the same league. There is no roster. The "roster" is the players a team used during the league season. Only those players may play in the league tourney at the end of the season.
• If there are Coed Sixes teams that are coming from a distance to Fort Wayne I can alter the schedule so that teams can play 3 to 5 matches each night to make traveling worth the while.
• Reverse Coed (on Fridays) is where the net is set at Women's height and only women can hit and block at the net. Men have to hit behind the ten foot line.
• Matches are two games to 18, 21 cap (rally scoring).
• Prizes for winning the league tourney can include a $15 discount on an upcoming season, but is usually a T-shirt, or something like that.
• Net serves are legal. One toss per serve attempt is allowed. One time-out per game.
• Teams get at least 2 minutes on-court warm up time.
• Tourney rules for Coed Sixes: Teams need a minimum of 3 players to start (and at least one female). Teams may play with one more male than female during the season. In the tourney, teams need 3 women on court to play with 3 men. It is always ok to have more women on court than men.
• If a team is forced to forfeit a first game, the 2nd game of a match is not forfeited until 15 minutes after the match start time. An extra 5 minutes grace period to avoid a forfeit will be given to teams playing on weekdays 6:30 and before.
• Additional forfeit notes: If a team has no players present at game time or the conclusion of the previous match, game one of the next match is forfeited. If a team has at least one player present then that team has the two minute warm-up period to produce a player before game one is forfeited.
• Spiece has child care available until 8 pm for younger kids.

All Good Things

Well, what can I say? There are so many good things that I can talk about. Let's start with our newest member of the team.

Because Sarah Fingerle was not able to play with us this season, we picked up a real spitfire. Karlie "Brown" Rice has come in full force and has given us extremely solid play thus far. She does need to work on her punctuality, but hey......you can't have it all. She has become our defensive specialist, and she gets better every week.

And where did this Grant kid come from? First game.....he's a "no-show". Second game.....an athletic yet sloppy rookie. Third game.....HOLY COW, HE HIT THAT BALL HARD!!! He just keeps getting better and better! Whatcha gonna pull out your bag of tricks this week, Rookie?

I could talk more about our team, but I'll save some for later. However, I won't save the fact that we won 3 out of 4 last Sunday, and we barely lost that last one. We've got some tough games coming up. We'll see if we're up for the challenge.

A Blast from the Past

I just came across a picture of 2 of our volleyball stars before they hit their prime. I wanted to share them with the world, so everyone could feel the same warm fuzzies I got when I looked at this. You know.....the kind of warm fuzzies you get after laughing so hard that you cry and milk comes out your nose.

World......meet Ryan and Grant. Wait a minute........this WAS their prime!
